Literature Analysis #2

Deja Stewart

4 Dec. 2013

Block 3

Twisted

1) The story I chose was called Twisted. The story was about a teenaged boy name Tyler who just stared his senior year after being arrested for vandalizing his school as a prank the year before. He has to go to a dinner at his fathers boss’ house who is the father of his crush Bethany and his enemy Chip. When chip pushes Tyler as he walks by he runs into Bethany and she cuts the bottom of her foot and has to get stitches.

2) The theme of the story would be love. The book is a one sided love story because Tyler thinks that he loves Bethany because he has had a crush on her for a long time. The only problem is that Bethany doesn’t feel the same way about him. In the middle of the story it seemed like she was starting to have feelings for him until one night she gets drunk and tries to have sex with him but he didn’t want to because he knew it wasn’t right because she was drunk and she never talked to him after that for turning her down.

3) I chose this book because there is a T.V. show called twisted that I like. It caught my attention because I watched the show and really liked it so, I wanted to see if the book had the same plot or not. I kept reading the book because the plot of the story was the same but on the T.V. show Tyler goes to jail for murdering his aunt with a jump rope when he was 9 and in the book its because he spray painted something on the school building.

4) I found the book realistic because a lot of people have liked someone or “loved” someone who didn’t feel the same way about them. Its also realistic because many teens have been to jail for vandalism or other stupid things.

5) The tone would be reality. The author uses incidents that can/have happened in real-life. Teens everywhere can relate to the book in many different ways.
